Shooting Ranges in Phnom Penh: Adrenaline with Safety and Professionalism

Shooting Ranges In Phnom Penh offer a thrilling and unique adventure for visitors to Cambodia’s vibrant and rapidly developing capital. Phnom Penh is a city of contrasts — shimmering modernity sits side-by-side with ancient temples, and sleepy riverside cafés buzz into lively nightlife as the sun sets. Among its many tourist attractions, shooting ranges stand out as a must-try experience for thrill-seekers.

For many visitors, the idea of handling real firearms — especially vintage military hardware — is a unique and somewhat exotic experience. While shooting ranges exist worldwide, Phnom Penh offers a rare opportunity to fire powerful weapons in a controlled environment at relatively affordable prices. Among the city’s shooting ranges, Hanuman Shooting Range has carved out a reputation as one of the most popular and professional destinations for both tourists and locals.

In this article, we’ll explore the world of shooting ranges in Phnom Penh, discuss what makes Hanuman Shooting Range special, and provide you with everything you need to know for an unforgettable shooting experience.

The Allure of Shooting Ranges in Phnom Penh

Shooting ranges in Phnom Penh have long captured the imagination of travelers seeking an adrenaline rush. In Cambodia, where laws around gun ownership are highly restrictive for civilians, licensed shooting ranges provide a rare and legal opportunity to handle firearms.

Hanuman is one of the best shooting ranges in Phnom Penh.

For many visitors, this experience is novel. Tourists from countries with strict gun control — such as the United Kingdom, Australia, or much of Europe — are often curious to try firing a real weapon. Phnom Penh’s shooting ranges cater to this curiosity with a surprisingly broad arsenal: from handguns and rifles to AK-47s, shotguns, and even heavier arms in some cases.

While Cambodia has tightened regulations over the years to ensure better safety and management, the experience remains one of the more accessible (and thrilling) gun range experiences in Southeast Asia.

Safety First: What to Expect at Shooting Ranges in Phnom Penh

One of the most important things to understand about shooting ranges in Phnom Penh is that professional standards have improved significantly. Today’s reputable ranges, like Hanuman, take safety seriously.

Visitors can expect:

  • Mandatory Safety Briefings: Every shooter, regardless of experience level, is given a detailed safety talk before handling any weapon.
  • Protective Gear: Ear protection and eye protection are typically provided.
  • Supervised Shooting: A trained range officer will assist and supervise at all times, ensuring you hold, load, and fire weapons correctly.
  • Controlled Environment: Only designated firearms are allowed; weapons are securely stored and handled only within the shooting range premises.

Of course, it’s important to exercise common sense and follow instructions closely. While the thrill is real, so is the need for caution.

Types of Firearms You Can Experience

One reason Phnom Penh’s shooting ranges are so famous is the variety of firearms available. Depending on the range, you might encounter:

  • Handguns: Glock 17s, Beretta M9s, Colt .45s
  • Assault Rifles: AK-47, M16, CAR-15
  • Sniper Rifles: Dragunov SVD, scoped M1 Garand
  • Shotguns: Pump-action Remingtons
  • Machine Guns: In some places, heavier automatic weapons may be available (though this is now more restricted)

Some shooting ranges even offer packages that combine multiple weapons for a set price, allowing you to experience a variety of shooting styles.

Why Hanuman Shooting Range Stands Out

When it comes to picking the best shooting range in Phnom Penh, Hanuman Shooting Range consistently ranks high among visitors and locals alike. Here’s why:

1. Professionalism and Safety

Hanuman Shooting Range has built a reputation for strict adherence to safety standards. Their team of instructors are well-trained, friendly, and fluent in English — which is crucial for tourists unfamiliar with firearm handling.

Before any shooting begins, guests receive comprehensive instructions and safety briefings. The staff assists you with loading, aiming, stance, and even breathing techniques, ensuring your experience is both exciting and secure.

For example:

The range’s rural location outside the city center ensures noise isn’t an issue, and the facilities are clean, open-air, and purpose-built for safety.

5. Group and Custom Experiences

Hanuman is also popular for group bookings — whether bachelor parties, corporate team-building events, or simply groups of friends looking for an unforgettable afternoon.

The staff are accommodating and can help you tailor your visit, whether you want a quick hour-long session or a full day of shooting various weapons.
