1. The Tiger’s Tale – For Roasts, Pop-Ups, and Surprises
📍 1 Ousaphea Village, Off 728 Street, Kampot
🔗 Facebook Page
The Tiger’s Tale is a true hidden gem. Located a short distance off the main riverside road, it offers a peaceful yet welcoming atmosphere. Once you find it, you’ll want to keep coming back.
What makes it stand out? Their Sunday roast is nothing short of Legen… wait for it… dary! Juicy, flavorful, and hearty – it hits the spot every single time. If you’re in Kampot on a Sunday, make a reservation early. It fills up fast.
But don’t just wait for the roast — The Tiger’s Tale keeps things fresh with weekly specials and pop-up kitchens. One night it might be a Japanese dinner; another, tacos. One time we wandered by and found a Japanese night in full swing, complete with Veggie Sukiyaki and Beef Teriyaki.
The best way to stay in the loop? Like and follow their Facebook page. That’s where they post updates about their rotating menus and special events.
Everything here is made with care. The staff are friendly, and the vibe is unpretentious. Whether you come alone or with friends, it’s easy to feel at home.
Noel leads The Tiger’s Tale — a charming Englishman with many years of experience in the hotel and restaurant industry.
You might be lucky enough to meet his equally charming wife, who manages their social media and organizes monthly get-togethers for female expats and travelers. They enjoy the ambiance of The Tiger’s Tale while donating and swapping clothes.
They donate any leftover clothing to the women who work in the salt fields just outside Kampot city.

2. The Green Room – Comfort Food and Khmer Classics
📍 Street 736, Kampot
🔗 Facebook Page
Next up on our list of the best restaurants in Kampot is The Green Room. It’s part pub, part kitchen, and all heart.
When we walked in, we were greeted by chilled music and smiling faces. The menu caught our eye with a balance of Western comfort foods and local Khmer specialties. They also have an impressive drink list – cocktails, craft beers, fresh juices, and kombucha.
We started with their house-made “Mcmuffin.” It blew us away. The fluffy egg, seasoned sausage, and perfectly melted cheese were made even better with a mix of herbs and spices. Simple but elevated – the kind of dish that turns you into a regular.
There’s something for everyone here. From vegan stir-fries to grilled pork ribs, the food hits all the right notes. You can swing by for breakfast, lunch, or dinner and never get bored.
If you’re staying nearby, you’ll likely return more than once. It’s that good.
They also (allegedly) have the largest pool table in Kampot, a dartboard, and host weekly quiz nights.
Cambodia Bucket List sat down for an on-camera interview with one of the super-friendly owners, Alan, which will be featured in our upcoming Kampot long-form video.

3. Auberge du Soleil – Local Charm with Swiss Roots
📍 #23, Street 278, “Kipling Lane,” Sandaek, Kampot
🔗 Facebook Page
Auberge du Soleil feels like a warm hug after a long day of exploring. The setting is cozy, the service is genuine, and the food? Outstanding.
This charming restaurant originally belonged to a Swiss owner. After he left, he handed the reins to his Cambodian staff. The result? A perfect blend of European tradition and local hospitality.
We kept coming back for one dish: the beef filet. Cooked to perfection and served with salad and fries, it’s a standout. The portion size is generous, and the price is surprisingly affordable.
The menu is compact but well-curated. Each dish has been refined over time. Whether you’re dining indoors or on the outdoor terrace, you’ll appreciate the calm setting and great service.
It’s places like this that make Kampot special. Auberge du Soleil isn’t just a meal; it’s an experience.

4. DEVA Vegan Restaurant – Fresh, Healthy, and Flavorful
📍 6 Street 726, Kampot
🔗 DEVA Website
Looking for a healthy, plant-based option? Head straight to DEVA Vegan Restaurant. It’s part of the Banteay Srey Project, a women-led initiative that supports local wellness and community development.
The vibe here is peaceful. Gentle music and mindful food. Even if you’re not vegan, you’ll find something to love.
We ordered the vegan yellow curry with tofu and a refreshing glass of Bokor Jungle Juice. The curry was creamy and rich, packed with veggies and perfectly cooked tofu. The jungle juice? A wild mix of herbs, citrus, and local spices – refreshing and energizing.
Everything is made from scratch with fresh, local ingredients.
If you’re craving something nourishing and delicious, DEVA delivers every time.
We at Cambodia Bucket List were fortunate to meet the impressive owner of the Banteay Srey Project, and we will devote an entire page to their women-only spa in the coming days.

Want to unwind after dinner or just arrived to Kampot and needing insider city info? Top Cat Bar is the place to be. It’s one of Kampot’s liveliest hangouts, attracting a fun crowd of expats, travelers, and locals.
There’s a lot to love here. From the informative bar staff to the interior decoration. The atmosphere is friendly and casual, and the place always buzzes with energy. No frills, just good vibes.
And the drinks? Outstanding. One of our favorites was the Kampot Sunset Citra Fueled Amber Ale. It’s brewed by an American expat who now calls Kampot home.
This craft beer is a refreshing and well-balanced brew, featuring zesty citrus notes, smooth caramel malts, and a crisp, slightly tangy finish. Highly recommended.
If you’re looking for a fun night out, Top Cat Bar is a guaranteed good time. Come for the beer, stay for the people.

Every good trip needs good coffee. In Kampot, Rumble Fish Specialty Coffee Roasters sets the standard.
Established in 2011, they were Cambodia’s first specialty coffee roasters. And it shows. The beans are roasted on-site, ensuring maximum freshness and flavor. From pour-overs to cold brews, every cup is brewed with intention.
Their space is calm and uncluttered – a great spot to work or relax. If you’re curious about coffee, the staff are happy to explain the different beans and methods.
We tried their espresso. It was excellent – rich, bold, and perfectly concentrated.
Whether you’re starting your day or taking a mid-afternoon break, Rumble Fish is worth a visit.

7. Sabay Beach – Sunset Drinks and Riverside Vibes
📍 Riverside Road, Kampot 07000, Cambodia
🔗 Website
Rounding out our list is Sabay Beach, a riverside resort with one of the best bars in town. If you’re into sunsets, signature cocktails, and laid-back luxury, this place is for you.
What makes Sabay Beach stand out is their signature Kampot pepper cocktails. Yes, pepper! Kampot pepper is world-renowned, and Sabay Beach uses it creatively in their drinks.
We tried every single one.
Please remember to drink responsibly.
The bar overlooks the river, offering epic views during golden hour. Grab a hammock, order a drink, and let the day melt away. It’s a great place to reflect, relax, and plan your next meal.
Or, as we did, spend two hours sipping cocktails and eating fried squid while our OSMO Pocket 3 camera captured a wonderful sunset time-lapse.
You don’t need to stay at the resort to enjoy the bar. Just show up, order a cocktail, and enjoy the peaceful riverside setting.
